Fun Themes for Your Next Virtual Hangout

We're still in the age of social distancing, and while we are apart, many are feeling the same way—bored. Extremely bored. Like, on a scale of one to 10 of boredom, many of us are at an 11, at least.
We’re locked inside and have accomplished everything we’ve already wanted to accomplish. The house is clean, our closets are organized, we’ve even started taking up a new hobby. But we miss our friends. While it might not be as satisfying as seeing them in person, technology provides the opportunity to still spend time with them.
So without further ado, here are our tips for making the most of your next virtual hangout.
Kick Back With Happy Hour
While (hopefully!) most of us are not in the office these days due to social distancing, we’re still working from home. Putting in your eight hours in the comfort of your own place might make working a bit more relaxing, but we can still have those rough—or just long—days!
Usually, we’d spend a few hours forgetting about the day’s toils during happy hour with our friends. While there might not be a physical bar we can visit with them, we still have access to both our friends and our go-to beverages! Research your favorite drinks, learn a new skill and recreate them in your own kitchen. You can even make your own quarantini! (See what we did there?) Then log onto Zoom—or your video conferencing tool of choice—and let happy hour commence!
Change Up Your Backgrounds
We are unable to do much traveling these days, minus the occasional adventure to the exotic grocery store. But that’s why it’s time to get creative while hanging with your friends virtually. Zoom has a feature that allows you to change up your background. You can pretend you are in a movie or your favorite place in the world.
You can also turn it into a game with your friends. Pick a theme and images based off of it. Then have your friends guess the movie, song or location behind you. Whoever wins best out of 10 gets a free post-quarantine drink.
Host a Game Night
Going off of the background game, you and your friends can indulge in a whole evening of games via video chat. The possibilities are endless, but one suggestion is to have everyone send the “host” their favorite and least favorite songs. The host can then make a playlist out of them, and your friends must guess the songs that belong to the person.
Another possibility is to ask your friends random questions before game night and then host a game of trivia based off of their answers. You’ll learn more about your friends and have a blast while you’re at it.
Stay Safe and Stay Home
We can’t wait to see you at Zone 28 again, but in the meantime, take care and get creative with having fun!
