Knocking Out the Hardest Bowling Shots

Whether you’re an avid bowler or just go every once in a while, you’ve probably come across some of those tricky shots that you just don’t know how to handle. There’s the famous 7-10 split as well as many shots that can really mess with your score. If you’re looking for a strategy to help you pick up those spares, keep reading.
The 7-10 Split
This is probably the most famous, and one of the most frustrating pin configurations out there. The 7-10 split, also known as the “Bed Posts,” refers to the back corner pins on opposite sides. For newer bowlers, it’s extremely to miss both of them and take a big fat 0 on your second attempt.
The best way to deal with a 7-10 split is to first decide if you absolutely need both pins. It requires a lot of experience to knock down both, even for professional bowlers. If you can stay in the game with just one pin, take that option. However, if you’re dead set on knocking down both, start by standing off-center. Aim for the center arrow and bowl hard. If things go correctly, the force should knock one pin into the other.
The "Greek Church"
The 7-10 split might be more well-known, but statistically speaking, the “Greek Church” configuration is the hardest one to tackle. Also referred to as the “Big 5,” this combo consists of the 4,6,7,9 and 10 pins. It’s an ugly configuration and can look rather intimidating to even a seasoned bowler.
So how do you pick up the spare on a “Greek Church?” Well, luck has a lot to do with it. You want to aim for the space between the 6 and 10 pins. The 6 will hopefully take out the 10 (which takes out the 9) before sliding over to the 7 that will then bounce over and take out the 4. Again, throw hard to get some good force behind it.
