Laser tag—the legal way you can act like you are in combat with or against your friends. We can all agree, this competition is a blast, but only if you know what you’re doing. For those beginners who are going against seasoned pros, your lack of experience can feel frustrating. That’s why we are sharing our best strategies for laser tag.

Dress the part

If you are a soldier going into battle, the last thing you want to do is stick out against your environment. The same goes for laser tag. Most laser tag arenas feature black lighting. If you want to be able to efficiently hide and sneak around, you want to dress in dark clothing. You’re going to be spending a good bit of the game running and dodging others, so make sure your clothing doesn’t give you position away to the other team!

Get defensive

Especially if it’s your first time playing laser tag, it could be tempting to hide and let everyone battle it out until the end. But don’t do that! You can and should go all out on the field. It might sound odd, but walk sideways so you aren’t “full-on” and an easier target for others. It’ll also hide your tag a little better. Also, if you see someone getting ready to tag you, and you’re unable to duck or hide, turn your body sideways. Again, it’ll make it more challenging for people to tag you.

Shoot rapidly

This is important—do not waste your time trying to aim perfectly! You are in combat, you don’t have time to take careful aim! If you see someone you want to tag, just go berserk. Don’t be shy, you are more likely to tag them with rapid fire. It sounds brutal, but you’re trying to come out on top!
