Have an Out-of-This-World Birthday | Zone 28
In search of an easy party theme for your child’s upcoming birthday at Zone 28? From hobbies to favorite characters, the options are as limitless as our galaxy. Which reminds us, outer space is one theme that provides a treasure trove of decor, craft and activity inspiration. Why not give your child an out-of-this-world party to remember by venturing to infinity, and beyond?

Spacey Decor and Crafts

Decorations and activities make a successful party, and the space theme makes them really easy, too. In addition to the necessities, like themed plates, cups and hats, get creative in Zone 28’s party space to fully immerse each child in the party.

  1. Planetary Decals - Kids will have a blast exploring and identifying the planets of our solar system with stick on decals. Whether you choose easily-removable vinyl stickers or paper cutouts, this decor paired with hanging stars or lights will make partygoers feel like they’ve entered outer space.
  2. Mood (or moon?) Music - Set the tone for the party with the right tunes. That could include the likes of Elton John or the soundtrack to one of the biggest space sagas in movie history.
  3. Get Crafty -The kids will undoubtedly have plenty of energy to burn, but a brief activity might provide quiet entertainment (AND education). Pick up some small styrofoam balls and spray paint at a craft store, then head to the grocery store for a few bags of wooden skewers. Preparing in advance of the festivities, pain the balls different colors to mirror the planets. At the party, help guests to craft their very own miniature solar system!

Costume Fun

Aside from incorporating the perfect on-theme space decorations, music and activities, kids will get a kick out of walking a mile in the shoes of a space being or object. There are a few ways to go about this.

  1. Homemade Costumes - In your invitations, encourage guests to get dressed up for the party. It’s simple to make homemade, cost-effective costumes out of household items like boxes, craft materials or face paint. Kids will delight in creating looks like alien creatures, spaceships or even astronauts.
  2. Live Entertainment - If your budget allows, hiring a costumed character provides another level of excitement. Entertainers dressed as scientists could teach a mini lesson about the sun and stars, or a popular movie character (like a certain animated space ranger) could make a photo op appearance.

Laser Tag

While we still don’t know for sure what a space battle would look like, kids will enjoy imagining the experience with Cyber Quest Laser Tag at Zone 28. Between cake and presents, let the little ones burn off their excited energy in our 3,000 square-foot arena.

  1. Team Play - Split everyone up into two teams (boys v. girls, kids v. adults, etc.) to add a bit of competition to the party. Wearing their special vests and armed with space phasers, each child will fire at the opposition to score points.
  2. Free-for-All - Younger guests will benefit by going at their own pace and running about freely in the free-for-all laser tag format. Same gear, more flexibility. They’re sure to be in awe of the eerie black lights and thrilling sound effects.
