In Good Company with Bowlers Journal International

Bowlers Journal International, an internationally distributed industry publication, notes that its annual Architecture & Design winners each “exhibit no shortage of imagination or daring, the financial investments behind the projects demonstrate that, thanks to the trend toward family entertainment centers and distinctively themed boutiques, the business world may be seeing more value in the bowling industry than it has in years.”

A New Take on an Old Classic

Spearheaded by architect Richard Jaynes and designer Bruce Robinson, the redesign brings a fresh take on family dining and entertainment to the Pittsburgh area. The entertainment complex includes 33 bowling lanes, a laser tag arena, two escape rooms and an arcade with over 75 games.

Owned by McKnight Development and reopened in 2017 under its new name, Zone 28 sits just east of Pittsburgh, and is one of the area’s best venues for family fun and viewing sporting events. Zone 28 is also available for birthday parties and other group functions. This distinction marks the culmination of a complete overhaul of the entertainment complex, and highlights the beautifully remodeled Rail House restaurant, End Zone sports bar and Suite 28 VIP lounge, all housed within the entertainment complex.

Zone 28 boasts two distinct dining experiences. The Rail House is a traditional sit-down restaurant open daily at 11 a.m. It offers classic meals like pizza and sandwiches, alongside chef-inspired entrees like BBQ ribs or a strawberry balsamic glazed salmon.  Also on the premises, the End Zone sports bar is the perfect place for all Pittsburgh sports. More than a dozen TVs and 20 rotating beers on tap (plus over 100 in bottles) culminate in a great place to watch football or hockey. Add an outside patio with its own fire pit and you’ve got a venue for all seasons.

Suite 28 offers guests a truly unique experience in a beautiful atmosphere. The VIP lounge holds up to 100 guests and includes 8 private bowling lanes, a separate bar and state-of-the-art AV system. Guests can work with one of Zone 28’s group specialists to create a personalized menu and set up the room for their exact needs.
