The Game Zone at Zone 28

The Game Zone is Zone 28's arcade in Pittsburgh — 88+ games, two of them virtual reality, in one large room alongside the bowling lanes. Play is on a Zone 28 game card you load with any amount, and every video, ticket and prize game is half price all day Wednesday. There is nothing to book: walk in any time we are open, load a card and play.

What It Costs

No entry fee, no minimum - you load a card and each game takes its own price

There is no entry fee and no minimum. You load a game card with whatever you want to spend, and each game deducts its own price. The card works anywhere in the building, not just in the arcade.

Half price all day Wednesday. Every video, ticket and prize game is half price, all day, every Wednesday — the same day lanes drop to $38 an hour. It is the cheapest day of the week to be in the building by a distance.

Pool tables are $5 for 30 minutes, separate from the game card.

When We Are Open

The arcade runs the whole time the building is open

After 8pm on Friday and Saturday you must be 18 with valid ID, unless you are with a parent or guardian aged 25 or over.

The Games

88+ games, including two virtual reality. The room mixes new cabinets with the ones people come back for. Recent additions include Willy Wonka, Nerf Arcade, Connect 4 Hoops and Jurassic Park. The old favourites stayed: NBA Hoops, air hockey and Skeeball.

Halo: Fireteam Raven. The biggest cabinet in the room — a curved 85-inch screen built for up to four players at once, co-operative, set during the events of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. It is the one people photograph.

Something for the adults, too. Sink It is a beer pong arcade game, and the pool tables sit at the edge of the same room.

It genuinely is all ages. A five-year-old on Skeeball and a teenager on a driving cabinet are twenty feet apart, which is the point of the room.

Tickets And Prizes

Ticket games pay out to your card, and you cash them in at the redemption counter for candy, toys and electronics. Tickets stay on the card, so nobody has to carry a fistful of paper around the building or lose them between visits.

Checking a balance is self-service — there is a card balance checker on our website, and reader terminals in the arcade itself.

In Parties And Packages

Every birthday and group package at Zone 28 carries arcade credit

Every birthday package includes a game card per guest — $10 or $20 depending on the package — and the birthday child gets a magic wristband worth 75 arcade plays. The Laser Zone package swaps bowling for two games of laser tag and a $10 card each.

Group packages all include arcade credit: Strike 28 at $25 a person has a $5 card, Laser Storm at $22 and Ultimate 28 at $50 each include a $10 card. A $10 arcade card is a $5 per person add-on to any group package.

School and youth group field trips at $20 a child include a $10 game card alongside bowling, laser tag and lunch.

If you want to top up the cards inside a party package, we charge half — adding $10 to every guest's card costs $5 a guest.

While You Are Here

The Game Zone sits inside a 50,000 square foot complex, all indoors and air-conditioned. Under the same roof: 33 bowling lanes, a 3,000 square foot laser tag arena for up to 30 players, two escape rooms, the Rail House Restaurant, the End Zone Sports Bar and an outdoor Beer Park with cornhole and bocce.

Wednesday is the day to come. Arcade games half price, lanes at $38 an hour, and the place is quieter than a Saturday.
