Area 28 is Zone 28's laser tag arena in Pittsburgh — 3,000 square feet, one level, lit by black light. A game costs $8.00 a person, or $13.00 for two games, and runs about 15 minutes. Up to 30 players take the arena at once, in two teams or a free-for-all. There is no booking and no reservation — walk in any time we are open and put your name down at the front desk.

Two games works out at $6.50 each, which is why most people buy the pair. If you are already on a group package, an extra game of laser tag is an add-on at $5.00 a person.

After 8pm on Friday and Saturday you must be 18 with valid ID, unless you are with a parent or guardian aged 25 or over.
How A Game Works
Put your name down at the front desk. Laser tag runs first come, first served — we do not take reservations, and a private game is never guaranteed. Bringing a group? Call 412-828-1100 ahead so we can have the arena ready for you.
Get the briefing, then vest up. Staff walk everyone through the vests, the scoring and the rules in the vesting room before the doors open. Each player carries their own phaser.
Score by tagging. Hit an opponent's phaser or vest and you score for your team. Get tagged yourself and your pack deactivates — you have five seconds to find cover before it reenergises and you are back in the game.
Two teams, or every player for themselves. The standard game is two teams head to head, highest score wins. We also run a free-for-all where everyone is on their own team — better for smaller groups and for odd numbers.
The Arena
Three thousand square feet on one level, painted wall to wall and lit entirely by black light, with sound effects running through the game. The layout is built with barrels, walls and corners to move through — a standing target is an easy target.
The arena is wheelchair accessible.
Wear something you can move in. You are on your feet for the whole game, so comfortable shoes matter more than anything else. White glows under black light, which is either an advantage or a problem depending on how you want to play it.
The rules are posted in the vesting room, and they are short:
- No physical contact or offensive language
- No running, jumping or climbing
- No sitting, kneeling or lying down
- Play fair, play smart and give it your all
Parties And Groups
Laser tag is built into the birthday, group, field trip and team building packages
Birthday parties — the Laser Zone package. Built for the birthday child who is not interested in bowling: a private party room for two hours with a hostess, two games of laser tag, a $10 game card per guest, two slices of pizza per guest and unlimited soft drinks. $225 for 10 guests Wednesday and Thursday, $245 for 10 guests Friday to Sunday, then $22.50 or $24.50 for each guest after that. Minimum 10 guests; a non-refundable $150 deposit books the date. Our other birthday packages include a game of laser tag too, and parents of the birthday child play free.
Groups of 15 or more — Laser Storm, $22 a person. Two games of laser tag plus a $10 arcade game card each, over two hours. Ultimate 28 at $50 a person adds two hours of bowling, a pizza bar with unlimited soft drinks and two drink tickets.
Schools and youth groups — $20 a child. Two hours of bowling, one game of laser tag, a $10 game card, two slices of pizza and unlimited soft drinks. Monday to Friday until 4pm, schools and youth groups only.
Corporate team building. Packages start at 10 people, any day we are open — Twister Bowling at $40 a person includes a game of laser tag and a $10 game card. Team building packages are for companies only, and for adults only — no children.
A 12% service charge applies to any reservation that includes food.
While You Are Here
The arena sits inside a 50,000 square foot complex, all indoors and air-conditioned. Under the same roof: 33 bowling lanes, an 88+ game arcade including two virtual reality games, two escape rooms, the Rail House Restaurant, the End Zone Sports Bar and an outdoor Beer Park with cornhole and bocce.
All video, ticket and prize games are half price all day Wednesday. Game cards carry bonus play: spend $20 get $5, spend $40 get $12, spend $60 get $20, spend $100 get $40.
