Corporate Team Building Events in Pittsburgh: Why Your Next Team Outing Should Be More Than Just Lunch

July 26, 2026

If your team's idea of "team building" is sitting around a restaurant table talking about work, it might be time to shake things up.

Lunch has its place. But a table puts people in the same seats having the same conversations they have at the office. Give a team something to do together and the dynamic changes: people mix, talk and remember the day.

Why an activity beats another lunch

  • It levels the room. The newest hire can out-bowl the VP, and everyone enjoys it when they do.
  • It gives people something to talk about besides work. That is where real working relationships start.
  • It mixes departments naturally. Build teams across groups and the org chart disappears for an afternoon.
  • People remember it. Nobody tells stories about the lunch.

What a team outing at Zone 28 looks like

Zone 28 is a 50,000-square-foot entertainment complex in Pittsburgh, built for groups:

  • Bowling on 33 lanes — the easiest shared activity there is. No skill required, plenty of time to talk between frames.
  • Laser tag — a 3,000-square-foot blacklit arena with up to 30 players per game. Instant teams, instant rivalries.
  • Escape rooms — two rooms for 3 to 10 players each: the purest problem-solving exercise in the building.
  • An arcade with 88+ games for the in-between moments.
  • Food and drink from our own kitchen — catering, the Rail House Restaurant and the End Zone Sports Bar, with 100+ beers.

A typical afternoon: arrive and eat, bowl in mixed teams, play a game of laser tag with the teams swapped, then wind down in the arcade or at the End Zone.

Packages for every size of team

  • Teams of 10 or more, any day we're open — our team building packages carry a lower minimum than any other group package. Book at least 3 days ahead.
  • Groups of 15 to 600 — group packages combine bowling, laser tag, arcade game cards and food. See group packages.
  • Want the space to yourselves? Suite 28 is our private event space for up to 200 guests, with eight private bowling lanes, a private bar, audio-visual systems, a private entrance and a dedicated event coordinator. It can be split for smaller groups. See Suite 28.
  • Big group, flexible date? Groups of 75 or more can ask about a Monday or Tuesday.

The practical details planners ask about

  • Location: 2525 Freeport Road, Pittsburgh — about 20 minutes from downtown and 2 minutes from the PA Turnpike, with on-site parking. For a team coming in from across Western PA, that is easier than downtown.
  • Booking: a 50% deposit holds your date, with the balance paid before the event.
  • Accessibility: the building's two levels are just four steps apart and joined by ramps. There are also ramps at the lanes, wheelchair-accessible restrooms and a wheelchair-accessible laser tag arena.
  • Food and drinks: catering from our own kitchen; alcohol charged on consumption or by an arranged bar package.
  • Everything handled: your coordinator plans it with you, and our professional events team sets up, runs the event and cleans up. You just bring the team.

Team building FAQ

How far ahead should we book? At least 3 days for team building. For large groups and the holiday season, as early as you can.
