Things to Do in Pittsburgh When It’s Too Hot, Too Rainy, or Too Boring Outside!
When the weather or the group chat fails you, Zone 28 is the move!
Pittsburgh weather has range: August humidity, March sleet, and those grey Saturdays when nobody can agree on anything. Here is an indoor plan that works for families, friends and date nights — all under one air-conditioned roof in Pittsburgh.
1. Bowl a few frames
We have 33 lanes. Little bowlers get bumpers, lightweight balls and ramps; everyone else gets Cosmic Bowling — glow-in-the-dark lanes with black lights, laser lights, music and 12-foot video screens.
2. Battle it out in laser tag
Our 3,000-square-foot blacklit arena takes up to 30 players a game, and games run about 15 minutes. Perfect for burning off the energy a rainy day builds up.
3. Hit the arcade
88+ arcade games, from ticket games to video games. Win tickets, then trade them in at the redemption counter for candy, toys and electronics.
4. Try an escape room
Two rooms, 3 to 10 players each. Walk-ins are welcome when a room is free; call at least 3 days ahead to guarantee your time.
5. Refuel, then keep going
Grab a meal at the Rail House Restaurant, or pizza, wings and burgers at the End Zone Sports Bar, where the grown-ups get 100+ beers and 14 big-screen TVs. Then go back for a rematch.
6. And when the sun finally comes out
Head outside to the Beer Park, our outdoor patio with cornhole and bocce.

Good to know before you go

- When: hours vary by day, so check our Information page before you head out.
- Teens on weekend nights: after 8 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, guests under 18 need a parent or guardian aged 25 or older.
FAQ
Is Zone 28 air-conditioned? Yes — which is the whole point on an August afternoon.
Is it good for young kids? Yes. Bumpers, ramps and lightweight balls make bowling easy for little ones, and the arcade has plenty of games for small hands.
Do I need a reservation? Not for bowling, laser tag or the arcade — just come in. For escape rooms, walk-ins are welcome when a room is free, or call 3 days ahead to guarantee a time.
